Press Release Summary: Millions of shoppers ditch the Queen's speech in favour of finding online bargains according to shoppers revenge site MyVoucherCodes.co.uk.
Press Release Body: The UK's leading voucher code and discount website user statistics has revealed that hundreds of thousands of people ditched the Queen's speech this year in favour of finding big name online shopping bargains that were launched on Christmas Day.
www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk web stats shows that the period from 3pm to 4pm on Christmas Day was the 3rd busiest online shopping time the site had experienced over the entire festive period.
Big-name online stores such as PC World, Dixons and Comet launched their online sales on Christmas Day and electrical items such as fridges, freezers, cookers and washing machines were the most searched for bargain.
Dixons online store was keen to get the post Christmas sales booming by giving away a year's "Two for One" cinema card with every single purchase made on Christmas Day.
MyVoucherCodes Managing Director, Mark Pearson, said,
"Maybe the Queen's speech pre-occupied the rest of the family to the extent that a mum or dad could sneak off to surf for the latest bargains but for whatever reason online shopping was a major part of Christmas Day for some people".
He continued,
"White goods sales went through the roof on Christmas Day and this could mean either a disaster with the turkey led to the destruction of the kitchen equipment or people are simply becoming more savvy than ever before when it comes to finding the best online deals".
De Vere Forster is a Director at Dixons, who, speaking about the increase of online sales said,
"Buying behaviour is changing as people become more confident in shopping online. 2007's online pre-Christmas sales were constant, right up to the last order day - which was one of the busiest days yet - unlike last year where sales tailed off earlier. Online shopping really is becoming the norm for many families as customers have gained confidence and trust in well-known online retailers and delivery times.\"
MyVoucherCodes.co.uk monitors and updates the new voucher and discount codes every day thanks to a combination of people sending them in to help other consumers and the site owner using technology to keep a watchful eye on the market place.
Over 6m people have now visited the web site and around 150,000 people have signed up to the site newsletter that gives people a weekly breakdown of the best codes and the companies with the biggest discounts.
